“Either you run the day or the day runs you.” - Jim Rohn
This is a quote that I fully embrace each and every morning. I truly believe that the first few hours of your day can set the the tone for how the rest of your day will go.
Not getting a good night’s sleep, hopping online to check your email before you are even out of bed, waking up late and skipping breakfast may seem like no big deal, but these are all things that can greatly impact how productive your day will (or, more likely, won’t) be.
This is where forming healthy morning habits comes into play. By intentionally incorporating activities into your morning routine that you enjoy, that give you peace, that calm and relax you, you set your day up for success and increased productivity.
If you haven’t yet set up a solid morning routine, here’s a short list of morning habits that you may want to integrate into your current routine:
Unplug for the first 30 minutes of your day
Exercise
Meditate
Journal
Get outdoors
Eat a healthy breakfast
Read
Drink a glass of water
I developed my daily routine quite a while ago, and it works incredibly well for me. It allows me time to focus, energize and get in a positive frame of mind that leaves me ready to take on the day and be at my absolute best not only for my clients, but in my personal life as well.
My morning routine:
5am - Wake up with an awesome alarm clock.
5:05am - Drink one liter of hot water with lemon.
5:10am - 20 minute guided meditation. My faves are: Jason Stephenson, Mindful Movement & Joe Dispenza.
5:30am - Journal and set my intention.
5:45am - Dress and get ready for my workout
6:00am - Workout
7:00am - Shower
7:30am - Eat Breakfast
8:00am - Sit down at my desk. (I don’t check email during this time, I read something interesting online instead.)
8:30am - Write down ideas and to-do list for the day.
9:00am - Return emails from clients.
10:00am - Work begins.
Mid-Day - Go for a walk while listening to a podcast.
Lunch
Another walk before dinner.
Tech-free dinner (Phones go into a bowl with a lid in the other room.)
I encourage you to take a hard look at how you start your mornings. Are you setting yourself up for success, or making it more difficult to have a productive day?
Do you have a healthy morning routine that is serving you well? If so, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
Great way to start a day! I got an inspiration by your daily routine and trying to build for myself the same way to start my day! Thanks for sharing this information!
